Main Characters
Kuzco- The main character of the film, named after the ancient Incan city called “Cuzco.” He is the main protagonist of the film and he is consumed by his narcissism in the beginning. After he is transformed into a llama by Yzma, he must embark on a journey with Pacha to regain control of his empire. He soon discovers that the world does not in fact revolve around him.
Pacha- Pacha is an Incan farmer whose land is about to be stolen by Emperor Kuzco at the start of the film. Pacha’s personality is distinctly opposite that of Kuzco’s. Pacha posses empathy, humility, and family values, which leads him to aid Kuzco in his journey back home. Pacha’s good nature eventually has a positive effect on Emperor Kuzco.
Yzma- The main antagonist of this film is Yzma, the evil advisor to Emperor Kuzco. She is intent on getting rid of Emperor Kuzco, and devises a malicious plan to kill him and rule the kingdom herself. However, all of her evil plans end up backfiring on her in very comical ways. She intends to poison Kuzco, but Kronk mistakenly gives the emperor a potion that turns him into a llama. She uses Kronk to do most of her dirty work.
Kronk- Kronk is Yzma’s right-hand man. He does all of her heavy lifting and dirty work. However, he is not a malicious character like Yzma. He portrays the ignorant, oblivious henchman that does as he’s told. However, he has morals that are portrayed by a tiny devil and tiny angel that appear whenever he is conflicted. He also is intelligent in some areas, such as cooking and communicating with squirrels.
